The Retford & District Branch of The Royal British Legion, supported by Bassetlaw District Council, is hosting a service for Remembrance Sunday on Sunday 10th November, starting at 10:40am.
After the parade takes position in the Market Square, there will be a welcome and introduction by Legion Chaplain Reverend Andrew Pearse and the service will begin. The service will include the playing of ‘The Last Post’, observance of the Two Minutes Silence, and the playing of the ‘Reveille’.
Organisations and individuals are invited to join this act of remembrance and take part in the wreath-laying which will follow. After the laying of the wreaths, the National Anthem will be sung, then the service will conclude with a march past, headed by Veterans.
Branch Secretary, Ann Hickman BEM, said “We hope that the public will join us and consider buying a poppy to support our veterans and their families, and wear it with pride to say thank you to all those veterans who have given so much for us.”
This year’s parade will have a mixture of serving members and Veterans of His Majesty’s Armed Forces, Army Cadet Forces, Combined Cadet Forces, Air Training Corps, Scouts & Guides and students from schools around Retford.
