Move More in May comes to Kings Park!

Move More in May is set to end on a high thanks to a celebration event in Retford that will recognise a month of movement from Bassetlaw people. Over the last three weeks, people have been encouraged to move more and get active in whichever way they can. And with the finish line now in sight, the event in Kings’ Park on Thursday 30th May will celebrate all their achievements and provide a day of fun for all the family.

Grants improve facilities at football club

Harworth Colliery Football Club have scored a crucial goal in improving safety and security at their ground thanks to some teamwork by two local councillors. Ward Members for Harworth and Bircotes, Cllr Joe Horrocks and Cllr Lynne Schuller, who is also Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing at Bassetlaw District Council, have donated £500 from their allocation of Councillor Community Grants to support the club and protect it from future anti-social behaviour and vandalism, as well as improving facilities for spectators.

A lifetime’s creativity showcased at Bassetlaw Museum

A snapshot of artworks created over six decades by a retired Retford arts teacher is going on show at Bassetlaw Museum. The exhibition titled “From Pets to Portugal” features oil paintings created by Derrick Spence and covers a wide range of themes with a special focus on animals and landscapes.

Action taken against Worksop property owner

A Worksop property owner has been ordered to pay £2,214 by Mansfield Magistrates Court after failing to remove a large amount of waste left outside a house he owned, and not responding to a request about who had an interest in the property.

A group of councillors have donated money to help Retford Lifesavers Club in their quest for medals at the next World Lifesavers Championship in Australia. The club is aiming to win their first gold medal at the championships since 2018 and will be taking on competitors from 50 countries on the Gold Coast in August and September this year.
