UK Parliamentary General Election - 4th July 2024

The Prime Minister has announced that there will be a General Election on 4th July.

Please note if you were registered to vote for the 2nd May elections and still live at the same address, you do not need to register to vote again.

As postal vote packs cannot be printed until after candidate nominations close on 7th June, it would be prudent for UK voters living overseas to consider setting up a proxy vote now, so that they have someone they trust vote on their behalf.

If you plan to be away on holiday on July 4th, you can register for a postal or postal proxy vote at: www.gov.uk/vote-uk-election You should do this as soon as possible before the deadline of 5pm Wednesday 19th June.

You can also register for a proxy vote, which allows someone you trust to vote on your behalf. You should do this as soon as possible before the deadline of 5pm on Wednesday 26th June.

If you plan to vote at a polling station, you will need a valid form of photo ID. You can find out what types of photo ID are accepted at: www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/voter-id/accepted-forms-photo-id If you don’t have photo ID you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate. You should do this as soon as possible before the deadline of 5pm Wednesday 26th June.

If you have moved house or turned 18 since the elections on the 2nd May, you will need to register to vote at www.gov.uk/vote-uk-election. You should do this as soon as possible before the deadline of Tuesday 18th June.

The UK General Election will see the introduction of new Parliamentary Boundaries. Electors in the Bassetlaw district will vote in either the Bassetlaw or Newark Parliamentary Constituency depending on which district council ward (listed below) they live in.
