
A dedicated helpline and online service providing additional support for Bassetlaw District Council tenants has been extended for a further two years.
The Tenant support and wellbeing service provides fully confidential support, guidance, professional advice and in the moment counselling 24 hours a day 365 days a year and is free for council tenants to access.
The service, provided by Life and Progress, was first introduced in 2022 and has now been extended until October 2027.
Cllr Jonathan Slater, Cabinet Member for Housing and Estates said: “We continue to receive increasing level of queries from our tenant's seeking advice on financial issues, legal related issues, mental ill health and other health concerns, and support to sustain their tenancy.”
“We hope the Tenant Support and Wellbeing Service will provide additional services and signpost them to the right place to help meet some of the advice and support needs of our tenants.”
Between November 2022 and the end of last year, over 500 contacts were made to the service using the phone line, email and online support. Two thirds of these were for in the moment emotional support with 21% referred to specialist external support agencies.
The most frequent issues were health related issues such as anxiety and depression, work related issues, relationship and bereavement and financial and legal advice.
The Tenant Support and Wellbeing Service will continue to provide additional support that could assist tenants with a variety of key issues and help to resolve issues without the need of council involvement.
