Retford art group shine a spotlight on their work

A Retford art group will be shining a spotlight on their creations over the coming weeks at the latest exhibition being held at Bassetlaw Museum.

Artempo will be showcasing paintings, textiles, lino prints and crafts made by its members as part of their ‘Creative Spotlight’ exhibition.

Each of the group’s members including Pat Carrington, Ann Everitt, Cath Ray, Jenny King, Wendy Smith, Annie Turner and Polly Warren, have their own individual styles and come together on a regular basis offering support and inspiration to each other.

Artist Cath Ray said: "It’s so valuable to have a group of artists around me to share ideas and techniques with. As we all have different art practices, we have a huge pool of knowledge between us to draw from when we need it. We encourage each other to try new things and when we have a shared goal like this exhibition, it inspires the creation of new work and stretches us as artists.”

As well as the exhibition, members of the group are also hosting free art demonstrations over the coming weeks. The next upcoming demo will be on Saturday 8th March, 2.30pm – 3.30pm.

Artist Annie Turner said: “The Bassetlaw Museum Gallery is a beautiful space with an excellent system for showcasing artwork both pictorial and 3d items. We have found the staff are supportive and professional. Our group felt we were in good hands from the ‘word go!’”.

The exhibition runs until the 19th April at Bassetlaw Museum, Grove Street, Retford and is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4.30pm. Admission is free.

For dates and times of the free, informal art demonstrations visit www.bassetlawmuseum.org.uk.  There’s no need to book and everyone is welcome.
