Following an official "opening" outside Wonderland Bookshop on Carolgate at 4,30pm, there will be a parade along Carolgate by lantern-carrying children from local schools to Market Square

From 4.30pm to 8.00pm: Parade along Carolgate by lantern-carrying children from local schools to Market Square where they will sing carols led by Hannah Harris and DJ Russ Brett. Santa is calling in between 5.15 and 5.45pm. There will be a free children's fairground ride, free facepainter, free Santa's Express Post by Evie the Elf and the Stilt-walking Ice Queens will be walking around saying hello. Many of the town centre shops and cafes will be open and a night-time market will be on part of the market square as well as great street food.
