Responsible To: Strategy and Engagement Manager
Job Purpose: To provide effective, quality engagement with tenants to ensure their views are included in the management and ongoing development of the housing service.
Key Responsibilities:
- To develop and provide a full and effective tenant participation service to the tenants and leaseholders of Bassetlaw District Council that meets and exceeds the requirements of the Housing Regulator.
- Support and service the Tenant Liaison Group and other tenant involvement task and finish or working groups and develop any other tenant involvement systems and meetings as required to meet the needs of the service and regulator.
- To advise other Housing Service staff on tenant participation and to assist with the training of staff and tenant representatives as required.
- Promote, develop, and empower tenants and leaseholders to represent themselves more effectively with the Council through a range of formal and informal participation events
- Attend networking events and forums as appropriate to develop positive practise and an integrated approach to tenant participation
- Engage with tenants and develop meaningful relationships that support their involvement to create positive change in their housing environment, how services are delivered and managed, their community and their lives more broadly.
- To manage financial payments and accounts in relation to the provision of tenant involvement including ensuring a supply of materials required to promote and deliver tenant involvement
- Implement and monitor the Resident Engagement Strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Engage with tenants and develop meaningful relationships that support their involvement to create positive change in: their housing environment, how services are delivered and managed, their community and their lives more broadly.
- Assist with the development of submissions for external grants and other funding streams to facilitate the growth of connecting communities in Bassetlaw.
- To ensure the Councils safeguarding procedures are followed where appropriate.
- To work within Council policies and procedures including data protection and financial regulations.
- To ensure the Council’s health and safety policies and legal requirements are adhered to.
- To contribute to the development, review and improvement of policies and strategies in line with current legislation and best practice.
- To support the achievement of social inclusion, equality and diversity in both employment and service delivery including the promotion of equality of opportunity.
- Promote and deliver the priorities, values, and objectives of Bassetlaw District Council at all times
The post holder is required to carry out any other duties appropriate for the grade and responsibility level of the post.
The post holder will be required to comply with relevant legislation and in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures.
The post holder will be employed under the NJC Conditions of Service for Local Government Services.
