Quality Control Inspector - Gas and Water - Job Description

Job Title: Quality Control Inspector - Gas & Water

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Undertake scheme / project supervision, monitoring progress, attending site and office meetings in respect of the same, preparing instructions, appraising the Contract Administrator / Supervising Officer of progress.

 

  1. To carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with contract drawings, specifications and quality and notify the Contract Administrator / Supervising Officer of any problems, errors, discrepancies or divergences and non-conforming work.

 

  1. To assess the safety of works on site and compliance with current Building Regulations and project CDM requirements and advise of any infringements to the Contract Administrator / Supervising Officer and contractor.

 

  1. To provide periodic written reports as specified by the Contract Administrator / Supervising Officer, maintain a diary of events and comply with all procedures and administration identified within the Services’ Quality Assurance Policy.

 

  1. Liaise as and when necessary with other departments including, Property and Development and the wider Housing Service, other Council services, Statutory Agencies and Emergency Services etc in order to collate information necessary for the proper conduct of the contract.

 

  1. To prepare and keep records of financial and non-financial information as required and to assist in the preparation of relevant reports for senior managers, elected members

 

  1. Carry out pre-practical completion and end of defects inspections, including preparation of ‘snagging’ lists and ‘back-snagging’ inspections if necessary.

 

  1. To record and report safeguarding concerns, ensuring that compliance with legislative requirements, the Council’s statutory responsibilities and the relevant codes of guidance.

 

The post holder is required to carry out any other duties appropriate for the grade and responsibility level of the post.  The post holder will be required to comply with relevant legislation and in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures.

 

The post holder will be employed under the NJC Conditions of Service for Local Government Services.
