Responsible To: Policy and Communications Manager
Job Purpose: Supporting the delivery of the Council’s Policy, Scrutiny and Performance functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- To prepare and administer the annual Scrutiny Work Programme. This will include providing Members and officers with appropriate briefing material that could relate to council activities or outside bodies whose activities may be appropriate for examination via Scrutiny.
- To support scrutiny reviews as agreed in the annual Scrutiny Work Programme. The role includes researching and analysing evidence and production and publication of final reports.
- To carry out post scrutiny monitoring of recommendations relating to approved scrutiny review reports ensuring that all scrutiny recommendations are acted upon.
- To support the ongoing delivery of the performance management framework for the Council.
- Use data manipulation techniques and software tools to undertake investigative performance analysis.
- To work with service contacts to ensure that accurate, timely, corporate and service planning and performance information is entered into Ideagen, to enable the production of reports for key Member and officer meetings.
- Provide a Policy advice service for the Council based on all key intelligence sources.
- To provide policy information on the Council and the area for external submissions and inspections if required.
- Production of statistical profiles at both district and ward level as required.
- To support community engagement activities undertaken by the Council.
The post holder is required to carry out any other duties appropriate for the grade and responsibility level of the post.
The post holder will be required to comply with relevant legislation and in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures.
The post holder will be employed under the NJC Conditions of Service for Local Government Services.
