Job title: Bricklayer
Responsible To: Repairs Supervisor
Job Purpose: To ensure all work is carried out on time, on quality and on price in accordance with the agreed performance standards and to tenants’ satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- To carry out maintenance and building work on the full range of Bassetlaw District Council’s housing properties, involving brickwork, block-work and stonework.
- To carry out, as and when required, bricklaying, concrete laying to paths, floors and foundation work.
- To be able to plan own workload day to day.
- To be able to carry out repairs / modification / replacement within the bricklaying craft as instructed by supervisors / management.
- To carry out work associated with the laying of drainage systems, including soakaways.To undertake full/partial plastering work to walls and ceilings.
- To undertake wall and floor tiling to properties, including screed laying.
- To undertake roofing works, including rebidding, removing and re-fixing roof tiles, ridges and chimney pots/cowls.
- To carry out as and when required removal/renewal of block paving and paving slabs.
- To operate within a customer-focused framework, putting the customer first.
- To cover on out of hours emergency call out/evening and weekend rota.
The post holder is required to carry out any other duties appropriate for the grade and responsibility level of the post.
The post holder will be required to comply with relevant legislation and in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures.
The post holder will be employed under the NJC Conditions of Service for Local Government Services.
