Job title: Benefits and Admin Support Team leader

Qualifications

  • Achieved, be working towards or willing to work towards a recognised supervisory qualification eg, CMI/NVQ level 3 (or relevant equivalent) Priority 1
  • Minimum 2 GCSE, grade C or above, to include Maths and English (or relevant equivalent) Priority 1

Knowledge

  • Advanced practical & procedural knowledge of Housing Benefit & Council Tax Reduction regulations and good practice Priority 1
  • Knowledge of discretionary areas and welfare reforms in relation to Housing Benefits and Council Tax Reductions Priority 1
  • Knowledge of the Northgate Council Tax and/or Civica Document Management systems Priority 2

Experience

  • Experience of working in a performance-driven environment Priority 1
  • Ability to understand, communicate and manage key performance measures and ongoing improvement methods Priority 1
  • Experience of supervising or managing a team including training others/team development and appraisals Priority 2
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in a Benefits office at an officer level or above Priority 1
  • Experience of giving very complex advice and handling difficult customers Priority 1

Skills

  • Good computer skills including use of Microsoft products Priority 1
  • Able to develop and implement work-based procedures Priority 1
  • Good organisational skills to deal with and manage workloads/deadlines Priority 1
  • Advanced presentation skills for delivering training Priority 1
  • Ability to demonstrate a very high level of Numeracy and literacy Priority 1
