Youth Mayor
I’m Puruchothman, and I have just begun my first term as the Youth Mayor of Bassetlaw. I am very grateful for this opportunity to represent the young people’s voices in the community. I look forward with working the youth council, local charities and businesses and most importantly the youth to drive change and take part in impactful projects in society.
I will work tirelessly to focus on the most pressing issues affecting our youth, such as the need for improved life skills, greater access to mental health resources, reducing vaping and significantly increasing the quality of life in Bassetlaw.
Manifesto
As an enthusiastic and committed individual, I am eager to work with the youth council to champion the voices of young people and effect positive change in Bassetlaw. With my extensive experience in both teamwork and leadership, gained through my involvement with the youth council and the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, I have developed a wealth of key skills, including leadership, effective communication, and collaborative problem-solving.
I am deeply passionate about driving progress in Bassetlaw and will work tirelessly to focus on the most pressing issues affecting our youth, such as the need for improved life skills, greater access to mental health resources, increased community involvement, and enhanced opportunities for youth empowerment. I am committed to working in partnership with others to ensure that young people throughout Bassetlaw have access to the best possible opportunities, benefiting both them and our wider community.
As youth mayor, I will work closely with the deputy youth mayor to spearhead a variety of exciting and impactful projects designed to improve Bassetlaw socially and environmentally. With my dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to success, I am confident that I can help make a real difference in the lives of young people across our community.
Deputy Youth Mayor
Callum Dale: At this time, in this political environment it has never been of greater importance to ensure that the voices of young people across the country, and especially in Bassetlaw, are heard. As your Deputy Youth Mayor, I will champion your voices and strive to make a positive impact on the lives of young people across our community.
Working in collaboration with the Bassetlaw Youth Council and others, I will lead projects committed to breaking down barriers to opportunities and enriching the lives of young people. For instance, I am deeply passionate about improving and expanding public transport. I am also an advocate for greater access to mental health support and free school meals in order to enhance the lives of students in Bassetlaw. In addition, I will also hold regular consultations with young people in the community in order to ensure that young voices are heard.
As a student myself living in Bassetlaw, and by having arranged and chaired meetings with young people before it has become incredibly apparent to me that these barriers must be overcome. With my dedication as your deputy youth mayor, I am confident I can make a vast and meaningful difference for all young people across Bassetlaw.
