Street care and cleaning

The Street Cleaning Team are responsible for keeping the streets of Bassetlaw clean and safe for residents to enjoy.

Our efforts are hindered by a minority of irresponsible individuals who drop litter and fly-tip throughout the District. We work closely with the Council's Environmental Health staff to identify those individuals and the Council have already taken a number of prosecutions for fly tipping and will continue to do so.

If you see someone littering in the streets or town centres, please report this to us. Please give us as much information as possible, such as what type of litter it was, where the litter is located, if you know who dropped the litter, let us know, this will help us identify them.

Please also remember, you have a duty of care to ensure that any waste removed from your property is done so by a registered waste carrier business. Find out more about your duty of care.

Discarded Needles and Syringes

We operate a service to collect and dispose of used needles and syringes discarded on our streets and other public places. We will respond as quickly as possible once a call has been received to minimise the risk of any potential injury occurring. These can be reported online or during office hours only on 01909 534 501.
