The historic market town of Retford was granted its first charter (the right to hold a fair) by King Henry III in 1246 and this was extended in 1275 By King Edward I to allow a Saturday Market a tradition that continues today.
The very popular open-air market is held in the market square each Thursday and Saturday against the backdrop of fine Georgian buildings. On Friday’s, browsers can seek out bargains at the Antique and Collectors Market.
